Aug. 14, 2013 will mark Social Security’s 78th birthday. Members of the Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans (WARA) will host a party to celebrate the program’s unparalleled record of never missing a single payment and invite reporters to speak with local retirement security leaders, seniors and national experts on a telephone press conference call on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at 1 p.m. (CDT).

While seniors are gathering at the Wilson Park Senior Center in Milwaukee to celebrate the program’s birthday, reporters are invited to listen and ask questions on a tele-presser that will briefly discuss the importance of Social Security and the modest adjustments needed to have it remain solvent for future generations of Americans. Similar events are occurring in more than 25 states nationwide today and in the coming weeks.
